Siemens Telnet Configuration

For Legacy Systems

  • Minimum of three CopperTree devices per BLN
  • Devices will need to be directly installed to the panels via a serial cable
  • Devices still need an outbound internet connection
  • An additional device installed for load balancing for every 100 TECs beyond 150
  • The panels must be telnet enabled
  • User account setup on all panels with same privileges as “low” account
  • The baud rate for the MMI port should be set to 9600 or higher (115200 is preferred)

    • The baud rate for the MMI port should not be lower than the bus’ baud rate

For Siemens Apogee IP Enabled Systems

  • One CopperTree device per 18 FLN panels is recommended
  • Please provide CopperTree with the following:

    • The number of BLNs (building level networks)
    • BLN subnet(s)

  • Installation location identification is required (panel name/physical location)
  • User account should be set up on all panels with the same privileges as “low” account
  • The panels must be telnet enabled
  • Communication between the K-Link and Panels should have Port 23 enabled

Preparation Process

To prepare for your CopperTree service and ensure a quick and easy installation please complete and return the Onboarding Packet provided by your CopperTree account representative.

Device Requirements

  • Provide an IP address list for all siemens panels on the network.
  • Provide CopperTree with the field panels’ MSTP logs:

    1. Log in to any of the BACnet field panels with the technician terminal.
    2. Type H (Hello).
    3. Type low (Username).
    4. Type low (Password).
    5. Type a (Application).
    6. Type n (flNdevice).
    7. Type m (Mstp).
    8. Type l (Log).
    9. Hit enter again.
    10. Copy everything that gets printed on the screen to notepad and send it to us.
