Airflow sensor may be faulty
Objective/ Method/Outcome
Objective: Determines if the airflow sensor is faulty.
Method: Compares the recorded airflow to the 24-hour maximum and minimum to find if the airflow sensor is stuck on the same value or if the sensor constantly outside the acceptable range.
Outcome: This rule generates an insight.
Description
Sensor validation rule: Check for unreliable readings in range and quality. This rule is part of the CopperTree Standard rule-set.
Default Priority
Low
Diagnosis
- Verify sensor exists.
- Verify sensor has power.
- Verify reading in BMS.
- Replace if the sensor is broken.
Message
Airflow sensor is reading outside reasonable range or is stuck on one value. This may negatively impact comfort or energy efficiency.
Rule Template
Insight Type: Fault Detection
Trigger Type: Active High

Inputs
Input | Unit | Tags | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Airflow | CFM | Discharge Air CFM | The recorded airflow |
Flow Low Limit | CFM | The lower limit of the acceptable flow range | |
Flow High Limit | CFM | The upper limit of acceptable flow range | |
Weekly Insight Threshold | hours | The minimum hours of fault that can trigger an insight |
Notes
Default Thresholds:
- Flow Low Limit [CFM]: 0
- Flow High Limit [CFM]: 3000
- Weekly Insight Threshold [hours]: 120 hours
