Determine if VAV damper is constantly at near maximum (100% open)

Applicable Systems

  • Secondary: VAV

Objective/Method/Outcome

  • Objective: Determine if the VAV Damper is fully open excessively during occupancy due to possible low static pressure or design issues.
  • Method: Check the amount of time the VAV Damper is in the fully open position during occupied hours.
  • Outcome: An insight is generated if the VAV Damper is fully open for more than 12 hours per week.

Logic

  • Sum over course of a Week(Hours damper is fully open and unit is on)
Determine if VAV damper is constantly at near maximum (100% open)

Inputs

  • MAD {cmd, mixed, air, damper} (Real Trend Log)
  • Occ {occupied} (Binary Trend Log)

Applicable Systems

  • VAV

Parameters

Parameter Expression Block Series Number Description Default Value (Units)
Damper Error Threshold 35 The movement tolerance of the Damper. This is used to define when the damper is open. 2 (%)
Acceptable Hours per Week 36 The amount of time that this error is allowable for the unit per week. Anything more than that time is considered a fault. 12 (h)
