Description / Method

Determines if the boiler is operating when the heating plant may not be required, and calculates Potential Savings and Energy Impact. {BLR}
Compare the rolling 4-hour average outdoor air temperature to the boiler lockout temperature.

Insight is triggered when Potential Savings exceeds the yearly threshold (defined by the user). This can be changed to trigger Energy Impact. Also generates PotentialSavings_DailyCUSUM ($) CTL.

  • Potential Savings is the energy cost based on the time the boiler is enabled above the desired OAT threshold, a forecast in $/year. The rule estimates only 26 weeks of boiler operation for a year (defined by the user)
  • Energy Impact is the number of daily hours boiler operating above threshold (expressed in percent of total daily hours boiler is on)

Logic

Enhanced Prioritization – Determine if boiler is operating when OAT is above lockout temperature
  • 1. Boiler plant operating above OAT lockout. Verify heating plant sequence of operation.
  • 2. Automatic control has been overridden. Revert equipment back to automatic control.

Message

The boiler has been operating while the OAT is above its lockout temperature. Ensure that boiler enable is not overridden, then verify sequence of operation.
