Kaizen Release Note: V2.4.01
Release date: 2016-05-13
Overview of Kaizen V2.4.01
Kaizen 2.4.1 introduces a new color palette and a completely redesigned Building Dashboard to provide improved Insight Prioritization.
Enhancements in Kaizen V2.4.01
Kaizen Interface
- The Kaizen color theme has been updated with a new palette.
- The dashboard icon for the Vault feature has been updated to represent the functionality better.
New Dashboards
- The Building Dashboard has been completely overhauled with new widgets and a bold new look. The dashboard is now comprised of 6 new widgets:
- Building Profile – with a larger building image, location of the building on a map, address and associated CopperCube status, provides a more complete and concise perspective of the selected building.
- Potential Savings – A new widget showing the sum of all the Potential Savings values for the building. A summary showing the Top Five insights by cost is shown.
- Energy Breakdown – improved readability of the existing dashboard: when more than nine meters are referenced, the eight meters with the highest values are shown and the remainder are aggregated into a meter called “Other”.
- Active Insights by Impact – A new widget that shows the relative impact for all the Insights that are calculating impact by Urgency Score, Comfort Impact and Energy Impact.
- Active Insights By Priority – A new widget that provides totals of the legacy High, Medium and Low priority insights for the building.
- Active Insight Type Breakdown – Fault Detection, Energy, Golden Standard, Infrastructure, Integrity KPI are represented with their respective icons, showing a breakdown of active Insights by type.
- The System Dashboards have a new widget – Active Insight by Priority Breakdown. This displays Comfort Impact, energy Impact, Urgency Score and Priority categories.
New Rules in the Community Library
- Six new Community Library Rule Templates have been created to allow users to start taking advantage of Kaizen’s new Prioritization/Monetization features. These Templates can be found in the Community Library by searching for Enhanced Prioritization:
- Equipment Runtime
Measures runtime outside occupancy to determine Potential Savings and Energy Impact. An Insight is triggered when Potential Savings exceeds the predicted yearly threshold. This can be changed to trigger on Energy Impact. - Equipment Cycling
Analyzes equipment state changes. An Insight is triggered when Property Impact exceeds the weekly threshold (defined by user). This can be changed to trigger on Urgency Score. - CO2 Concentration
Measures indoor CO2 concentration during building occupancy to determine Ventilation Impact and Urgency Score. An Insight is triggered when Ventilation Impact exceeds the weekly threshold (defined by user). An Urgency Impact Insight is triggered whenever CO2 concentration exceeds 1500 ppm. - Indoor Temperature
Measures indoor temperature fluctuations during building occupancy to determine if they are within a user-defined acceptable range. An Insight is triggered when Comfort Impact exceeds the weekly threshold (defined by user). This can be changed to trigger on Urgency Score. - Unnecessary Boiler Operation
Determines if the boiler is operating when heating plant may not be required, and calculates Potential Savings and Energy Impact. An Insight is triggered when the Potential Savings exceeds the yearly threshold (defined by user). This can be changed to trigger on Energy Impact. - Unnecessary Chiller Operation
Determines if the chiller is operating when cooling plant may not be required, and calculates Potential Savings and Energy Impact. An Insight is triggered when the Potential Savings exceeds the yearly threshold (defined by user). This can be changed to trigger on Energy Impact.

Improved Input Data Block
- The Input Data Block has been improved to allow for the entry of a constant: . Constants are entered in the block and can be easily edited/changed by the user at the individual working rule level. For example, a rule related to fans can be created and the motor size be specified within an Input Data Block. The rule template can then be applied as working rules to different fans and without editing the logic, the motor size can be changed within each working rule.
Other Changes
- The following Building Dashboard widgets have been removed:
- Active Insight Type Breakdown – Replaced with individual widgets for each type.
- Device Backups – This widget has been removed.
- Last 5 Reports Generate – This widget has been removed.
- CopperCube Status & Statistics – This widget has been removed with the information being included in the updated Building Profile widget. A version of this widget has been added to the Client dashboard.
- Latest Order – This widget has been removed.
Bug Fixes V2.4.01
Insights
- The Working Rule list on a Rule Template page now correctly shows the name of the Trend Log inputs defined for the Working Rule.
