Set Device Ranges

Description

The Device Ranges in the CopperCube user interface can be used to configure the CopperCube so that collects data for a specified range of devices. It can also be used to exclude the collection of data from specific devices like a Historian or enteliWEB. The Device Range is defined using Inclusion and Exclusion ranges.

Create a New Device Inclusion Range

The steps below describe how to add a new Device Inclusion Range. All trend logs that are in the inclusion range will be collected by the CopperCube. The range can be specified by both device number and trend log instance number.

You can add a new inclusion range to an existing site or when you create a new site by following the steps given below:

1. Open the CopperCube web interface and log-in (How to Log-in).
2. Browse to the Settings menu and select the Site and Device Ranges option.
3. If you are creating a new site, click Add. If you are adding a device range to an existing site, in the site table, in the site’s row, click Edit.
4. In the Device Inclusion Range section, click Add. This opens a new window.
5. Enter the following information:
   • Start Device # – the lowest number in the device range. Use * to indicate no lower limit.
   • End Device # – the highest number in the device range. Use * to indicate no upper limit.
   • Start Trend Log # – the lowest number in the trend log instance range. Use * to indicate no lower limit.
   • End Trend log # – the highest number in the trend log instance range. Use * to indicate no lower limit.
6. Click Submit to save the range.
7. Click Submit again to save changes made.

Create a New Device Exclusion Range

The Exclusion Range is a range of devices that were originally included in the Inclusion Range but you want them to be excluded. For example, you included devices 100-10,000 in the Inclusion Range but would like to exclude devices 300-1000 so that the CopperCube does not communicate with them. This can be done using the Device Exclusion Range.

The steps to add an exclusion range are the same as the steps for the Inclusion Range, except that this action is performed in the Exclusion Range section.

Delete a Device Range

Use the following steps to delete a device range in an existing site.

These steps apply to both Inclusion and Exclusion device ranges:

1. Open the CopperCube web interface and log-in (How to Log-in).
2. Browse to the Settings menu and select the Site and Device Ranges option.
3. In the site table, in the row of the site you want to change, click Edit.
4. For the applicable range type (Inclusion/Exclusion), click the X button.
5. Click Submit.
