Description
The purpose of this KbA is to discuss the recent changes that have been made in regards to adding new buildings in Kaizen.
I no longer seem to have permissions to add buildings to any of our clients. What am I doing wrong?
There are a couple of reasons why we have limited the building creation functionality.
Firstly, there are limitations to the number of buildings that can be linked to a single CopperCube. We recommend no more than 50 remote site connections per CopperCube. This is a limit of the CopperCube hardware and BACnet stack. Reliable communications cannot be sustained with more than this number of connections. Furthermore, we recommend no more than 50,000 BACnet objects be collected by a single CopperCube. To ensure optimal operation of the CopperCube, and to avoid such limitations (noted above) from being accidentally overlooked, the building creation functionality has been limited.
Secondly, CopperTree is moving towards streamlining and automating the process of the quote, order, and building creation. The goal is to have all three of these steps be completed through Kaizen Estimator – our online pricing tool. Limiting the building creation functionality in the Operations side of Kaizen is the first step in moving towards this automated process. We now require orders to be associated with buildings before we can add buildings to Kaizen. Orders are created using Kaizen Estimator. This tool is accessible through your existing Kaizen account, with the proper permissions. If you do not have sales access to Kaizen, please send a request to [email protected] and our Sales team will get back to you. The Sales access will provide you with the proper permissions required to access the online estimating tool (Kaizen Estimator).
When logging in to Kaizen (with Kaizen Estimator access enabled) you can either click on Sales or Operations. Please click on Sales to take you to the Estimator.
After an order is created and accepted using Kaizen Estimator, the building will be added. This will be an automated process in the near future, but currently, this is a manual process that requires CopperTree to create buildings for you. Therefore as per the current procedure, we can add buildings for you in Kaizen after an order is made.
Furthermore, after a CopperCube associated with that specific building starts sending data to Kaizen, we provide a 90-day grace period before invoices will be generated for the building. Please note that it is not always necessary for an order to include a CopperCube; meaning, if you are adding a building to an existing CopperCube, you would simply use the Estimator to price up to and order the building. Once CopperCube starts sending data for that new building to Kaizen, the 90-day grace period would begin.
How does this work for a project with multiple buildings, is there still a multi-building pricing plan in place?
There is a pricing plan in place for multi-building applications (university campus pricing for instance). When pricing a multi-building application using Kaizen Estimator, please use the “Request Special Pricing” feature to request special pricing for multi-building applications. This request can be made after the quote for a building is “submitted”. When requesting special pricing, please include details in the comment box detailing the project name, what other buildings are included in the project, and please indicate that it is a multi-building special pricing request.
Once all buildings are submitted as a special pricing request, the quotes will be reviewed and special pricing will be applied as required. To expedite the process, please feel free to send us an email once all of the building quotes have been submitted.
