KbA0037: Kaizen not accepting samples faster than 1 minute

Description

Kaizen Intake does not accept TL data that has a sample rate faster than 1 minute; the data will be rejected and not accepted into Kaizen.

There are several reasons for this design. Due to the nature of Kaizen’s analytics, there is little reason for samples quicker than 1 minute. Kaizen tends to focus on long-term, repeat problems in systems and devices. As buildings naturally have large time constants, these problems come in the form of trends, rather than transients, and as such do not require samples quicker than 1 minute.

Intake performs several checks to make sure data is valid, including rejecting data that larger than a TL could be when sampled faster than 1 minute. This prevents strange data artifacts from entering Kaizen.

On top of assuring that the incoming data is valid, having Trend Logs with samples at least 1 minute apart also improves Kaizen’s performance.
