Description
There are 2 different custom patches available for CopperCube version 1.20. The fix for these is to download the relevant zip file. These patches will not change the version number on the status page.
Delta Time Zone
Some CopperCubes were created in manufacturing, but were not configured with correct default settings. The notable issue is that internally, they are set to “Delta Time Zone” This manifests itself as:
- entries in the diagnostic log shown at a time in the future, usually by the offset from local time to GMT or by 8 hrs (the difference from Vancouver to GMT).
- The time zone will always reset to Pacific time after reboot.
Web Interface is locked / permission denied
During an upgrade, it is possible that the upgrade does not work completely and the username/password login will not work. In some cases, the status page will not work. You may notice this after changing passwords and then unable to login with a new or old password. This patch will reset your passwords to factory default passwords. This will also solve the issue of the Delta Time Zone.
Patch process
CopperCube firmware upgrade
The following steps can be taken to upgrade the CopperCube firmware:
- Ensure your CopperCube has version 1.20.1358. If not, you should do a Web or USB upgrade to bring it to this version first.
- Format a USB memory stick with the FAT32 format.
- Download the zip file as listed above.
- Extract the zip file to the root of the USB device. The USB drive should now have a structure like this:
- Plug the USB stick into CopperCube.
- You will hear a low-high beep telling you that the CopperCube recognized the device.
- Within 30 seconds you should hear a second beep (this time: high then low) to tell you the update is done
- Leave the USB stick in, and the CopperCube will reboot itself
- On reboot, the CopperCube will play a tune.
- Remove USB device
- The version number will not change
Congratulations your CopperCube has been upgraded.
