Description
In general;
- data acquired from the building – belongs to the building owner.
- data acquired from the user – belongs to the user.
- data generated by CopperTree (its products, services & employees) belongs to CopperTree.
Ownership requires there to be some kind of property (objects, land, or intellectual property). Ownership may be private, collective, or common. Ownership provides certain rights and duties over the property. These rights and duties can be separated and held by different parties. Herein we are concerned with the information held within Kaizen (the property), and who has the rights to:
- possess it
- care for it
- disclose it
- delete it, transform it, relocate it
- retake possession of it
- transfer responsibility, and/or ownership of it
Data Ownership Policy
Building Data is always the property of the building owner. The owner’s data is “owned” and “transferrable” by the owner via both the cloud and local storage. CopperTree can assist in providing requested information where it is not readily available through the user interface.
CopperTree may, from time to time, use Building Data without reference to ownership for the purposes of determining and resolving technical problems and testing new applications, tools, and technologies. CopperTree will comply with requests in writing from an authorized signatory that CopperTree refrains from using the data in such a manner.
Data Retrieval
Owners can extract their data from the system in several ways and in several formats should they wish to re-use it in additional tools. CopperTree will provide any information legally requested by authorized representatives of City, State, or Federal law enforcement agencies with the appropriate legal authority to be granted access to the information.
