Objective/ Method/Outcome
Objective: Determines if the VAV is discharging air while the VAV Damper Position is closed.
Method: Compares the VAV Damper Position and the VAV Discharge Airflow. If air is flowing while the VAV Damper is commanded to a closed position, the hours of faulty operation are calculated.
Outcome: This rule generates an insight if the Weekly Hours of Faulty Operation exceeds the acceptable weekly threshold.
Description
This rule indicates an inconsistency between the VAV damper position and VAV airflow. An insight will be triggered if VAV is prodiving airflow while damper is closed.
This rule is part of the CopperTree Standard rule-set. (Aliased Celsius / Aliased Fahrenheit)
Default Priority
Medium
Diagnosis
1. Damper may be not closing properly or leaking
2. Input sensor faulty or miscalibrated. Verify input sensor operation.
3. Airflow sensor may be inaccurate
Message
VAV is supplying airflow while damper is closed.
Rule Template
Insight Type: Fault Detection
Trigger Type: Active High
Notes
1. Only one “Airflow”, [LPS] or [CFM] is needed.
2. The input(s) that is(are) not used should be set to “0”.
Default Values:
Const. – Threshold for Faulty Hours Per Week [hours]: 8
CTLs:
Airflow When Damper is Closed – Weekly Hours of Faulty Operation (KPI)
Airflow When Damper is Closed – Hours of Faulty Operation (CUSUM)
