Cloud Cover Data Logic Block

Description

Cloud cover, also known as cloudiness or cloud amount, refers to the fraction of the sky obscured by clouds when observed from a particular location. In Kaizen, this data is made available for any location via the Cloud Cover Data Logic Block. Data is received from World Weather Online, which services over 200 countries around the world.

Functionality

Output of a Cloud Cover Data Logic Block is a data series such that:

  • Geographical coverage: Canada, US, and world.
  • Data Intervals: ONLY 3-hour data available.
  • History and Forecast: ONLY Historical and 18-hour forecast data available.
  • Values represent the percentage (0-100%) of cloudiness at the specified location or at a point closest to it

Logic Block Configuration

The Cloud Cover Data Logic Block can be configured via the following two parameters:

  • Name: sets the name of the Logic Block as it appears in the Logic Flow. It is best practice to use a concise, descriptive name.
  • Postal Code(Data request): Does not have to be only postal code, airport code (IATA), city name, latitude/longitude, IP address are also acceptable. See the examples below:
    • Postal Code: is used to locate the nearest relevant weather station.
    • Airport code, e.g. LHR (London Heathrow Airport)
    • City name, e.g. Stuttgart, Germany
    • Latitude/Longitude, e.g. 49.1947, -123.1839 (Vancouver’s Latitude and Longitude)
    • IP address, e.g. 206.122.22.101
